Days 8–14

The Five Families of Possibilities Based on Orientation

Focus: Okana, Ejife, Etawa, Alafia, and Oyeku as living portals into devotion, wisdom, power of word, good character, and contrast. Shells pointing away form you are open. Shells pointing towards towards you are closed.
Day 8

Okana — Doubtful & Devotion

When one shell lands open and three closed, the casting describes uncertainty and invites you to examine what you are truly devoted to beneath the surface question.

Assignment

  • Cast until Okana appears at least once; record the question and interpretation.
  • Journal: “What am I actually devoted to right now?”

Reflection Prompt

How can doubt show me where my devotion is split or misplaced?

Cast 21 times/Submit results Okana Devotion
Day 9

Ejife — Definite Wisdom

Two shells open and two closed can signify a decisive answer that still holds room for learning. The situation may involve some effort, yet carries the blessing of expanded insight.

Assignment

  • Cast until Ejife appears; write a short paragraph on the wisdom the situation is offering.

Reflection Prompt

Where is life insisting that I grow wiser instead of just more comfortable?

Cast 21 times/Submit results Ejife Wisdom
Day 10

Etawa — Probably, with Adjustment

Three shells on one side and one on the other invite you to rephrase the question with a small suggestion on how to proceed. The next casting carries the clarified answer.

Assignment

  • Cast until Etawa appears.
  • Rewrite the question by adding one clear action step, then cast again and compare the two answers.

Reflection Prompt

Which simple adjustment in my question or behavior opens the way forward?

Cast 21 times/Submit results Etawa Refinement
Day 11

Alafia — Yes with Blessing

When all four shells land on the same open side, the answer may affirm alignment and ease. The focus shifts to receiving the blessing with humility and gratitude.

Assignment

  • Cast until Alafia appears.
  • Create a simple gratitude offering (words, song, or candle) acknowledging the blessing.

Reflection Prompt

How comfortable am I with receiving good news without sabotaging it?

Day 12

Oyeku — Sacred No

All four shells landing on the opposite, closed side can signal a clear refusal and a need to pause, cleanse, and perhaps seek a higher level of divination if the topic is weighty.

Assignment

  • Cast until Oyeku appears; pause and cleanse the shells (smoke, water, prayer, or moonlight).
  • Re-evaluate whether the line of questioning itself needs to change.

Reflection Prompt

Where in my life is “No” actually protection, even if I dislike hearing it?

Cast 21 times/Submit results Oyeku Boundary
Day 13

Twenty-Cast Practice Cycle

Today is devoted to repetition and pattern tracking. You are not seeking one big answer but learning the “accent” of how the shells speak to you.

Assignment

  • Perform 20 castings with different honest questions.
  • Keep tally of how many times each response family appears.

Reflection Prompt

Which response has appeared most in this season of my life, and what might that be teaching me?

  • Identify which family you find most challenging to honor in practice.
